Putin Praises PM Modi's Policies, Says Russia Will Now 'Make In India'

Moscow:

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced today that Russia will establish manufacturing plants across India, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “India-first” policies. Speaking at an investment summit in Moscow, President Putin expressed admiration for how PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative is “strengthening India’s global position.”

Acknowledging the positive impact of New Delhi’s policies on India’s growth, President Putin highlighted how the government, under PM Modiā€™s leadership, has created a stable environment conducive to development.

Impressed by the ‘Make in India’ policy, Putin said, “Prime Minister Modi has a program called Make in India. We are also ready to set up our manufacturing operations in India. The Indian government, under the Prime Ministerā€™s leadership, has been creating stable conditions, guided by a policy of prioritizing India first. We believe that investing in India is a profitable opportunity.” He also noted that Russian company Rosneft recently invested $20 billion in India.

Putin further emphasized how India’s leadership has focused on “prioritizing its national interests,” which has led to robust growth and improved the well-being of its citizens. He particularly praised how India has created “stable conditions” for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

In his speech at the 15th VTB Russia Calling Investment Forum, President Putin also emphasized the importance of the development of the BRICS and BRICS+ forums, as well as the role of Russia’s import substitution program in this context.

He called for increased cooperation among BRICS nations to foster the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and encouraged member countries to identify key areas for collaboration at the upcoming summit in Brazil next year. “I urge my BRICS colleagues to assess the current situation in key areas of cooperation,” he stated.

Discussing the investment platform Russia is developing with its BRICS partners, President Putin noted that it has the potential to benefit all participating nations and is expected to become a crucial tool for supporting their economies and providing financial resources to countries in the Global South and East.
