Mahindra Introduces Dolby Atmos to Enhance In-Car Entertainment in Its Electric Origin SUVs

Mahindra has partnered with Dolby Laboratories to integrate Dolby Atmos into its range of new electric SUVs, the Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e. This collaboration marks the first of its kind between the British-American tech company and an Indian automaker. The advanced auditory experience, designed to enhance in-car entertainment, will be available through the infotainment systems of the BE 6 and XEV 9e, with content powered by Gaana, which also joins the partnership.

Dolby Atmos Brings Studio-Quality Sound to Electric SUVs

The integration of Dolby Atmos provides a premium audio experience in Mahindra’s new electric vehicles, offering improved clarity and depth for music, podcasts, movies, and more. The system is paired with 16 Harman Kardon speakers, which come standard in both the BE 6 and XEV 9e models.

The sound system features three-way speakers, including a tweeter, mid-range, and woofer positioned near the front seats. At the heart of the setup is Harman’s Unity Speaker design, complemented by rear surround speakers delivering high-fidelity mid-range sound. Additionally, both vehicles are equipped with a ceiling-mounted subwoofer and two speaker drivers to create an immersive surround sound experience, enhanced by Dolby Atmos.

Part of Mahindra’s Born Electric Vision, both the BE 6 and XEV 9e are built on the INGLO platform, designed to meet advanced safety standards and international industry requirements. The platform also benefits from a collaboration with the Volkswagen Group for sourcing components like batteries, electric motors, and system parts.

While Mahindra plans to launch five born-electric models, the BE 6 and XEV 9e are the first two. The BE 6 is a performance-oriented vehicle with bold design and impressive performance specifications, while the XEV 9e is a premium model, featuring luxurious materials, a refined interior, and a host of comfort-focused features.
