Apple is reportedly addressing the common crease issue seen in most foldable devices, making it nearly invisible. The company has been increasing the size of its iPads in recent years, with the latest iPad Pro M4 featuring a 13-inch display. According to a Bloomberg report published on Sunday, Apple is pushing the boundaries with its first foldable iPad, which, when unfolded, will offer a massive 18.8-inch touchscreen, surpassing even the largest MacBook Pro.
This foldable iPad will be as large as two iPads placed side-by-side. In addition to the size, Apple has reportedly resolved the crease issue that typically affects foldable devices. The company is also developing a flip-style foldable iPhone, which is expected to arrive no earlier than 2026.
Currently in development, the foldable iPad is expected to launch in 2026 or 2027. On the software front, it will combine elements of both iPadOS and macOS, making it a powerful tool for productivity. It may even be able to run native macOS apps, which are designed exclusively for that operating system.
Similar to the current iPad Pro, the foldable iPad will feature an OLED display, a key element for foldable devices. While the precise hardware details remain unclear, it is expected to be powered by the latest M series chip available at the time of launch. Following current trends, the device will likely come with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
