Billie Eilish became the latest artist to be struck by an object thrown by a concertgoer. The 22-year-old singer was performing in Arizona on Friday when she was hit in the face by what appeared to be a necklace or bracelet, as shown in TikTok videos. The incident occurred during her Oscar-winning song “What Was I Made For?” from the *Barbie* soundtrack. After being hit, Eilish paused for a moment, visibly annoyed, before continuing her performance and tossing the object aside.
Some audience members were heard booing the person responsible, and fans voiced their frustration in the comments. One fan remarked, “Why won’t people STOP THROWING THINGS?” while another pointed out that most items thrown at performers are rejected and advised waiting until the end of the concert if they wish to give something.
Eilish had previously shared her thoughts on such incidents, telling *The Hollywood Reporter* last year that she’s been hit by objects onstage for years, explaining that fans often act out of excitement, though it can be dangerous. “I have mixed feelings about it because when you’re up there, it blows, but you know it’s out of love, and they’re just trying to give you something,” she said.
In recent months, numerous celebrities have been hit by thrown objects during their performances. In November, Zach Bryan paused his concert in Washington after an object struck his guitar player, demanding to know who was responsible. Similarly, in 2023, Bebe Rexha had a phone thrown at her during a concert, and Kelsea Ballerini was hit by a bracelet, both incidents leading to public condemnations.
Kelsea Ballerini previously shared her experience of being hit by a bracelet during a performance, saying, “Someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eye, and it more so just scared me than hurt me.” She went on to explain, “We all have triggers and layers of fears much deeper than what is shown, and that’s why I walked offstage to calm down and ensure that I, my band and crew, and the crowd all felt safe to continue.”
Harry Styles has also been targeted by fans throwing objects at him, with one notable incident in 2022 when Skittles hit him in the eye.
Billie Eilish is currently touring in support of her album “Hit Me Hard and Soft.” Her next performance is scheduled for Sunday in California, and the tour will continue in Australia in February.
